What performance issue did you face?
Practice this questionDiscussion template: use your own project facts, ownership, and measured outcomes. Bracketed text is a placeholder.
Short explanation:
A performance story starts with a measured symptom and the workload that exposed it. It should explain how you separated potential causes and what work the final change reduced. A faster-looking code snippet is not a complete result without checking the same behavior and load.
Key points:
-
“[Operation] was slow under [real conditions].”
-
Explain how you measured it and what changed; use numbers only if known.
-
If exact historical measurements are unavailable, say what was observed and avoid reconstructing precise numbers from memory.
Interview point:
- Connect the change to rows scanned, query count, CPU work or waiting time rather than saying only “I optimized the API.”
